Apply for Grants
Foundation grants are limited to organizations defined as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code or to accredited schools. Grant applications for more than $5,000 are reviewed by the Foundation's board of directors, which meets quarterly.
Organizations and groups interested in applying for grants must complete an online application.
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you prepare your application.
- Make sure your project/organization is in our service area. The Minnesota Power Foundation awards grants and sponsorships only to organizations that benefit customers and residents in areas served by Minnesota Power; Superior Water, Light & Power; and BNI Energy.
- Provide enough detailed information in your request so reviewers have a clear understanding of what you intend to do.
- Allow 90 days for the Foundation to review your request.
Applicants receiving a grant from the Foundation must return a signed grant agreement form before receiving payment. All grantees are required to provide a final report describing results at the end of the program or project.
